THE picturesque Honde Valley has given birth to a new jewel, Andrew Chingobe, a comic actor whose antics and deep Manyika dialect would remind many of the late veteran actor, Simon Shumba, who was fondly known as Mutirowafanza.

Mutirowafanza was a hilarious actor who graced the local television station ZBC TV in the 90s and put Manicaland province onto limelight through his deep wasu accent.

And it seems Chingobe, who calls himself Bambo Tito, is on the right path following the response he has so far received from several productions circulating on social media. So far he has 12 DVDs and some skits and clips that are trending on WhatsaApp and YouTube include Bambo Tito 1 and 2, Mugoni wepwere ndiye asinayo Part 1, Deep secret, Blood spot 1and 2, Bhiridha Tito 1 and 2, My wife Chiranje Part 1 and Big mistake.

He tackles social issues that affect people’s day-to-day lives such as challenges in marriages, betrayal, love and deceitfulness, among other things.

Although he still has a long way to go or possibly a lot to learn, the 40-year-old has shown passion, determination and the zeal to become the next jewel of Manicaland in the local showbiz industry. Interestingly, Bambo Tito, just like the late Mutirowafanza, hails from Sagambe in Honde Valley. The two are also script writers of their content.

“I was born at Inyati Mine clinic before my father transferred to Honde Valley in Sagambe area. I did my primary education at Sagambe Primary School before I transferred to Saint Eric’s High School in Norton where I completed my ordinary level in 1995. I believe acting runs in my DNA since I started acting when I was Grade Three. I would make everyone laugh. My jokes would puzzle even teachers and older pupils. I am inspired to learn more everyday.

The late Safirio ‘Mukadota’ Madzikatire and Oliver ‘Samanyanga’ Mtukudzi inspired me especially on scripting realities of living. I strive to make better productions every time and I believe I am on the right track. My works are not only hilarious but educative,” he said.

He is working on the 13th production titled, “Mutiro wadya mhamba”, a potentially-intriguing comedy that outlines tomfoolery and mischief men can do to their family after a heavy beer binge. The comedy, which he believes would play a critical role in addressing issues such as dangers of domestic violence and drug abuse. It is expected to hit the streets in June.

Bambo Tito bemoaned the lack of support saying artistes and artists should work hard to fully exploit their talents. He believes their aesthetic quality of works should lead them to the bank.
