Events that occurred this week sent Blabber down memory lane and reminded Yours Truly of the sinful acts of man in his pursuit for a lavish lifestyle.

Blabber is never judgmental.

After all, who am I to judge?

But due to the need to preserve the little that remains of our moral fabric, Blabber will not relent in amplifying the call for hard work and honesty in our hustle.

Dear reader, just in case you didn’t know, there is a Hall of Infamy in the provincial capital and all the towns and remote areas surrounding it.

There is a sad story about the men and women whose love for money and all the things it can buy has transformed them into daredevils, knocking on the doors of different sangomas in search of magical charms that can substitute hard work in one’s way to ‘success’.

In fact, Blabber is now in the final stages of compiling a comprehensive list of our own nincompoops and their rankings.

This instalment has been inspired by the recent death of a popular socialite whose demise triggered several theories, among them the all too familiar ‘cock and maize theory’.

It is said during one’s initiation ceremony, the cock picks some maize seeds.

The same theory was discussed when that Mutare diamond dealer who was once on top of his game for a few years met his fate in a freaky car accident.

The long and short of the initiation ceremony is that the number of seeds picked by a cock during the ritual represent the number of years one will enjoy life on the fast lane, feasting on women of different shapes and sizes, while patronising the most expensive leisure centres around the globe.

But that is a just a theory that none of us can prove.

However, Yours Truly is aware that not all of those that seek money spinning magical charms go through the cock and maize ‘sacrament’.

That is why there are different prescriptions on how they should honour their gods while ‘enjoying’ their ill-gotten wealth.

To that end, Blabber will soon start serialising stories of those widely known to have ‘boosted’ their hustle; those that have been there and done that, albeit for a very short period.
