FRESH from his Davis Cup debut, Mutare tennis star, Tashinga Mtisi’s career received a major boost after being invited for a two-months long camp in France.

In recent years, Mtisi has proved to be the most promising tennis player from Manicaland, a province that usually dominates local competitions.

Mantas Tennis Academy administrator, Vincent Nyatoti said Mtisi has already left the country for France.

He said the camp will give the promising youngster valuable experience and lessons.

“We are happy for him. Tashinga Mtisi will be there for about a month, and will be back around May 16. He will be at Nenes, Hauts de Nîmes Tennis Academy. Tournaments schedule will be availed as he arrives in France. This will give him the much-needed experience from the other side of the globe, necessary for him as he gets to the climax of junior tennis and begin senior tennis.

“I wish him well, and hope he learns a lot about the game of tennis in other nations that are better than us, getting more exposure in the process. We can only urge him to remain hard working, and I know he will shine and hoist the Mantas Tennis Academy, Manicaland and Tennis Zimbabwe flag high,” said Nyatoti.

The St Dominic’s High School Lower Sixth learner, Mtisi, who was recently in Mozambique for the Under-18s International Tennis Federation (ITF) competition, is still cherishing his debut Davis Cup appearance in the recent tie against Morocco at Harare Sports Club in Harare, which he aptly described as an eye opener.

Together with Benjamin and Courtney Lock, Ethan Sibanda as well as non-playing captain, Gwinyai Tongoona, Mtisi faced, but failed to stand the technically superior Morocco.
