WHEN being a Good Samaritan backfires.

This is the case of a troubled Mutambara retired teacher and businessman, Mark Robert Mika (66) who is regretting ever offering accommodation to a 19-year-old teenager, Jean Mangudya who went on to seduce him.

Instead of paying for her accommodation, Mangudya is now being paid US$200 by Mika to buy her silence for the alleged sexual advances he made to her.

Having had enough of Mangudya’s torment, Mika who owns properties at Gonzoni Business Centre in Chimanimani District opted for legal recourse against the teenager.

Mika approached the courts to have Mangudya evicted from his premises, desist from visiting his apartment and not to disturb his peace.

In his affidavit filed with the courts, Mika said: “Sometime in May 2020, the respondent who is 19-years-old came to my business premises looking for a room to rent. I offered her a room for US$5 per month including water and electricity.

“The respondent only managed to pay rentals for one month and started to be so ignorant (sic) about the rentals. I tried to make her settle the rentals or vacate the premises, but to no avail as all my efforts fell into deaf ears. The respondent is also a nuisance because of her violent conduct towards other tenants and neighbours as she is an alcoholic.”

Mika said some of the tenants and neighbours were left nursing injuries after being attacked with broken beer bottles by Mangudya. He also claimed that Mangudya was also in the habit of visiting him in his bedroom while scantily dressed.

“She has been demanding US$200 from me since June 2020 to buy her silence,” said Mika.

He said Mangudya had also hacked his phone and linked it to her own gadget.

“She is able to find out if my wife and children send me money. She will forcibly accompany me to Mutare to withdraw the money. I will give her US$200 from the withdrawals. This has been happening until July 2021 when I informed my relatives in Mutare who advised me to make this application against the respondent .

“The respondent has been taking advantage of my vulnerability as a retired teacher. I am married to a German national who is in the Diaspora together with our children. I pray that the respondent be barred from visiting my home and business. She should also vacate my place. I am also applying for a peace order against her.”

Mangudya was still to respond to the application and the matter will be heard at Mutare Civil Court next week.
