A BUHERA teacher allegedly ambushed a 12-year-old primary school pupil and raped her at knife point.
Isheunopa Mukuvari (52), who is stationed at Mutauto Secondary School, was arrested and brought before the courts to answer rape allegations.
Mukuvari, who was represented by Mr Walter Mangwende of Chigadza and Partners when he appeared before Rusape magistrate Ms Rufaro Mangwiro, recently was granted bail.
Public prosecutor Mrs Orripah Sagandira said Mukuvari raped the Grade Five pupil who was on her way home after threatening to kill her.
“On September 13, in a bushy area in Mutauto Village, Chief Nyashanu, Mukuvari approached the complainant who was on her way home from school and threatened to kill if she failed to comply with his orders. He raped her once.
“After the rape, Mukuvari threatened to kill the complainant if she divulged what happened to anyone before he left the scene. The complainant later reported the matter to a relative. A police report was made and the complainant positively identified the accused person,” said Mrs Sagandira.
Ms Magwiro adjourned the matter to October 6 for trial.
