AT least 57 households in Buhera’s Ward 23 whose houses were destroyed by heavy rains in December are appealing for help.

Two villages – Zibute and Mugonyi – were heavily affected.

Mr Leonard Mabasa, the Buhera Residents Network Trust coordinator, said the affected families are appealing for assistance to repair or construct new houses.

“Ward 23 is a weather hazards hotspot. When heavy rains fell around Christmas, 57 homesteads were affected. 20 of these were left without shelter.

“The villagers are appealing for assistance to repair their houses or build new ones. We will be grateful if we can get temporary shelter, food and other basic commodities,” he said.
