A SAKUBVA woman was forced to abandon her marriage due to her husband’s documented infidelity, and accused his side chick of disrupting her matrimonial peace and stability.
Miriam Chiramu has since dragged her erstwhile hubby, Joseph Munguni to Mutare Civil Court, demanding US$100 maintenance for the upkeep of their two children.
The two appeared before Mutare magistrate, Mr Xavier Chipato, who granted the US$100 maintenance.
“What breaks my heart is that when things were not going on well for us, this man was faithful, and we worked so hard to ensure the best life for our children, and today he has decided to marry a second wife.
“Your worship, this man told me two weeks ago that he wanted a second wife after I went through his messages, and stumbled upon his conversation with his girlfriend. In those chats, they were discussing about how he was planning to give her the car he bought for me. I was shocked because I loved this man when he had nothing, and now he is doing this to me. I confronted him about the issue, and that is when he was honesty enough to say that he wants to marry a second wife. I treat this man with respect and care, and also gave him children. I have decided to end this marriage so that he can be free to move in with his girlfriend till the divorce papers are ready.
“Meanwhile, I am filing for maintenance of US$100 for food and other necessities, the rest I will take care of since I am a gainfully employed as a nurse. My pay is very flexible. This amount is nothing to this man because he works at a very good company as a geologist,” she said.
Munguni agreed to pay the requested maintenance amount, saying he love his family, and was shocked that his wife could not appreciate his request.
“I still love her, but it is true that I need a second wife. She does not understand that even my father had four wives. I will take care of my family.
“ I do not mind whatever amount of money she needs, she will get it. I am a family man, therefore, I cannot leave my house to go and stay somewhere else. I always want my children close to me,” he said, adding that the car which his wife claims he wants to give to give to his side chick was actually registered in her name.
“She knows that the car is actually in her name, so I really do not understand where she is getting this nonsense of giving the car to my girlfriend. I talked to her mother about this matter, and she seems to understand me better than her. She asked us to meet her, and I told my wife, but she declined the request of meeting her own mother.
“ I do not know of a better person who can talk to her. She threatened to burn my house if I do not sign the divorce papers.
“This means she really wants to dissolve our marriage so fast over a matter than can still be discussed and resolved,” he said.
