ZANU PF Women’s League national secretary for administration, Cde Monica Mutsvangwa has implored women in Buhera to shun protest votes during the forthcoming harmonised elections.

Addressing members of the ruling party’s Women’s League during a meeting in Buhera on Wednesday, Senator Mutsvangwa said women should shun protest votes and use the proper structures to express their grievances and concerns.

“People have a tendency of casting protest votes because of mere misunderstandings and this should be discouraged. We should shun infighting when we all know our common enemy.

“The revolutionary party has proper structures for you to come up with a candidate of your choice. When your chosen candidate is not selected, support the one who has the majority votes. We are supporting the party and not individuals,” she said.

Senator Mutsvangwa also urged women to shun factionalism.

“Factionalism always leads to protest votes and we should shun it. We no longer have the time to fight among ourselves. Democracy and the right to vote for who we want in power is what we fought for. We should not allow petty differences to divide us.

“Always support the party and you should not expect to be paid back by a position. If people vote you into office, be thankful and if not, do not despair, continue supporting the party because we are all united by Zanu PF. Positions come and go, we all cannot be in leadership positions,” said Senator Mutsvangwa, who is also the Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services.

She said the party and Government will continue funding women empowerment projects across the country through the able leadership of President Mnangagwa.

“President Mnangagwa will leave no one and no place behind. His Government will continue empowering everyone as well as developing the country as he has Zimbabwe and its people at heart. He will leave no place behind as it is his and Government’s vision that the country achieves an upper middle income economy by 2030.

“Evidenced by the rate at which he has spearheaded development projects in the country over the few years that he has been in office, President Mnangagwa has you at heart. He has done all this despite the fact that the country is burdened with sanctions imposed by the West,” said Senator Mutsvangwa.

Also addressing the same gathering, Women’s League chairperson for Manicaland, Cde Happiness Nyakuedzwa urged women to have the courage to take up leadership positions.

Buhera District Coordinating Committee chairperson, Cde Cosmore Chimombe promised the revolutionary party a resounding victory in the harmonised elections.

“We want to repeat the clean sweep of 2018 when all the four constituencies in Buhera were won by the ruling party. We want to show President Mnangagwa that we are rallying behind him and the party.

“The many projects that were commissioned by President Mnangagwa in this district is enough evidence that he is committed to empowering the people of Buhera. We will continue supporting and rallying behind him,” said Cde Chimombe.

Cde Mutsvangwa donated maize meal to the elderly and vulnerable members of the society.

A beneficiary, Mrs Idah Chiminya (82) of Bhasvi Village thanked Cde Mutsvangwa for the kind gesture.
