Mathias Mhere and Blessing Shumba have finished working on a single track that is due for release next week, The Weekender has established.

The development was confirmed by both artistes in separate interviews.

Over the years, debate has been raging on who is better between the two artistes, with some going further to say Mhere was Shumba’s copycat.

The duo has decided to silence their critics for good through this collaboration.

The song, “Driver Wehupenyu”, was produced by Charles Ayibeki at Ayibeki Studios in Harare.

“We recently finished recording the song and our fans will have it soon. I believe the song will touch many hearts. lt reminds listeners that Jesus is the driver of our lives. Without Him, we are nothing. We should therefore pin our hope on Jesus when we are going through thick and thin.

“The song is meant to uplift people’s spirits. lt soothes the hearts of many, especially during this depressing period as we fight Covid-19,” said Mhere.

“This collaboration shows that we are united.”

Blessing Shumba said: “There is no bad blood between Mathias and l. We are in the ministry to preach the Word of God through music and I am happy that our music touches many.

“I have been spending quite a lot of time meditating on the Word of God and I’m sorry because my fans were deprived of new music from me. Therefore, this is a good development, listeners will be blessed.”

Apart from the single, both artistes are working on separate albums, due for release this year.

Mhere revealed that his album will be out in June, while Shumba’s new offering will be unveiled in September.

Mhere’s last project was “Greater than Solomon”, while Shumba last released “Ndimweya”.
