A Mutambara man is at loggerheads with his daughter-in-law as he claims that she is a goblin’s wife who might kill his son in his sleep.
The goblin allegedly manifests on 37-year-old Nicollete Mapimbiro as she sleeps with her husband, Trymore Chinyama, and demands her return to the Mapimbiro family.
This was recently revealed at Chief Saurombe’s court after Trymore’s father, Silas Chinyama, had approached the court seeking reprieve.
Silas said his son was almost killed by the alleged goblin.
He said the attacks have been going on for the past 10 years.
“She disappeared for three weeks from the day she got married to my son. When we sent word to her uncle, he told us in no uncertain terms that we had to find her. Traditional healers helped us to locate her. That is when they revealed to us that she is a goblin’s wife.
“When we located her, we took her back to her family as she was manifesting, with the goblin stating that we had grabbed its wife.
“We took her back to the Mapimbiros and asked them to exorcise the goblin before bringing her back to us,” said Silas.
The two lovebirds got back together a few months later.
“My son was almost killed by the goblin, but he loves his wife and cannot let her go. He told me that his wife tried to choke him in his sleep and I fear that one day he will die at the hands of this goblin,” he said.
However, Trymore rubbished claims that a goblin tried to kill him.
He told the court that he loves his wife.
“My wife sometimes act like she is possessed, but the truth is that she never tried to kill me.
“I believe that my father is behind all this because when the spirit manifests on my wife, it accuses him of having dirty hands,” he said.
Mapimbiro also accused her father-in-law of wizardry and being behind the death of at least 20 people from their village.
“I do manifest but I am not aware of what I will be saying during those episodes. I am not the right person to ask as I am a victim. My father-in-law cannot sue me based on what I say when under a trance. Rather, l need help,” she said.
Mapimbiro’s uncle, Chrifford Mapimbiro, confirmed that she is possessed with a goblin spirit.
“We have consulted traditional healers and were told that although she has a goblin spirit haunting her, the manifestations are being caused by her father-in-law as he is a wizard.
“He needs to exorcise the evil spirits and curses he cast on my niece before they kill her,” said Chrifford.
Acting Chief Saurombe ordered the families to consult traditional healers to ascertain the real cause behind Nicollete’s spiritual manifestations.
The matter was adjourned to a later date.
