Sexual reproductive health initiatives target adolescents

Health Reporter

VULNERABLE youths in Mutare and Chipinge Districts are set to benefit from adolescent sexual reproductive health and family planning initiatives aimed at reducing teenage pregnancies and child marriages.

In a sexual reproductive health and family planning sensitisation meeting held in Mutare recently, Zimbabwe National Family Planning Council provincial manager for Manicaland Mr Dyson Masvingise said they will promote initiatives that uphold and advance the physical and psychological wellbeing of adolescents.

ZNFPC have joined hands with a local development partner – Plan International – to implement the programmes.

Mr Masvingise said they are also targeting to have school dropouts back in the classroom to continue with their education.

He added that previous initiatives had successfully achieved their goals of helping adolescents make the right choices and informed reproductive health decisions.
