A BURSAR at Baring Primary School is alleged to have cut a delivery truck’s tent to steal boxes of bathing soap.

However, Mr Bothwell Mandiya of Chikanga Phase 1 denied the theft charges when he appeared before Mutare magistrate, Miss Prisca Manhibi last week.

Mr Nyasha Mukonyora prosecuted.

It is alleged that on June 11 at around 7am, Mr Mandiya and his accomplices went to a Dhaure Logistics truck that was carrying a consignment of goods and cut the tent covering the goods. It is alleged that they stole three boxes of bathing soap.

When the truck driver, Mr Brian Ngoroyemoto, saw what had happened, he managed to apprehend Mr Mandiya while his accomplices escaped. Mr Ngoroyemoto informed the owner of the truck, Mr Munyaradzi Dhaure, who rushed to the scene.

Mr Mandiya was found in possession of a tablet of the bath soap, which was hidden in his jacket.

His accomplices are still at large.

He was remanded in custody and the matter was adjourned to June 29.

The total value of the stolen soap is US$30.
