LOCAL sungura musician, Brian Samaita, has started shooting videos for selected songs contained on his three previous albums and will simultaneously unveil the DVD project with his fifth album slated for next month.

The Murondatsimba front man revealed to The Weekender that he aims to popularise his brand and broaden his fan base by releasing a maiden DVD album.  Samaita will select two songs from each of his previous albums whicah include, ‘‘Tsono’’, ‘‘Murodzi Wepfungwa’’, ‘‘Nemiwo Munazvo’’ and ‘‘Kumaziva Ndadzoka’’.

He is also expected to drop his much-awaited fifth album which he is yet to christen.  Some of the videos are being shot in scenic areas such as Vumba and Nyanga as well as in Mutare’s popular suburbs such as Sakubva, Chikanga and Dangamvura.  The gifted guitarist who has vastly improved on his vocals and instrument arrangement compared to his debut project, ‘‘Nemiwo Munazvo’’ which was amateurish, believes the two projects will scale his musical career to unprecedented heights.

“We are working flat out to make sure that the two projects will be launched on the same day. The new album will carry five songs. I am tackling on social issues that affect people’s day-to-day lives such as poverty, unemployment, love, betrayal and treachery. These are some of the issues that make us familiar with our fans. Because of the support that we received on last year’s album, we are compelled to come up with a similar or even more polished project,” he said. Just like on the song, ‘‘Jerusalem’’, off the album, ‘‘Kumaziva Ndadzoka’’, where Samaita partnered gospel diva, Agatha Murudzwa, he is also expected to feature another local artiste, most likely to be gospel sensation, Blessing Shumba.

Shumba, in an earlier interview, did not rule out a collaboration with the sungura artiste. “It is very possible. Nothing can stop us. If time allows we can join hands and come up with something,” said Shumba.

The businessman-cum musician has four albums to date.
