MUTARE’S citadel of football – Sakubva Stadium – is set to host top flight league action after the Government gave the greenlight on the resumption of football.
Government, through the Ministry of Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation, has approved the resumption of football in a phased approach using the mini-league concept.
Games will be played behind closed doors under the bubble concept.
The Sports and Recreation Committee confirmed the development in a press statement today.
The phased approach will see the top flight PSL resuming first, followed by the Women’s league and then the various D1 leagues.
In making it’s application to the SRC, Zifa proposed the bubble concept in which football will be played in four centres across the country.
Sakubva stadium in Mutare, Mandava in Zvishavane, Barbourfields in Byo and National Sports Stadium in Harare will be used as the match venues, with a minimum of four teams in each bubble.
