FOR the second time this year, Zimbabwe Republic Police has temporarily banned the carrying of dangerous weapons in Rusape Police District following an upsurge of crimes in which weapons are being used and also to maintain peace and tranquility during the upcoming festive season.

Mid this year police also invoked the statutes and banned dangerous weapons from July 1 to October 1 in a bid to contain crimes such as armed robberies, rape, assault, murder, unlawful entry and others.

Rusape Police District encompasses Makoni and Buhera districts, making it the biggest in Manicaland Province.

Officer Commanding Rusape District, Chief Superintendent Goodwil Chinyan’anya, in a public notice said the ban came into effect yesterday and will be in force for three months.
