A CUNNING knife-wielding robber last Friday robbed a 31-year-old Headlands woman of US$4000, before forcing her to swipe her bank card on his Point of Sale machine in a movie-style execution that saw him getting away with another $56 000.

The robber, who seemed to have all the time in the world to execute the robbery, was wearing a balaclava and threatened to rape Ms Shorai Mapuranga if she did not cooperate with him.

Police confirmed the robbery that occurred in Maringowe Village under Chief Makoni around 3am.

Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Tavhiringwa Kakohwa said, “The man was armed with a knife and was wearing a balaclava. He gained entry into Ms Mapuranga’s house through the main door. He force-marched Ms Mapuranga to her bedroom and ordered her to surrender all the money she had in the house.

“He stole US$4 000 and asked Ms Mapuranga to hand over her bank card and personal identification number (PIN). The armed robber then produced a POS machine from his satchel and swiped $56 000 from the card before disappearing from the crime scene.”

Inspector Kakohwa appealed to members of the public with information leading to the arrest of the robber to contact their nearest police station.
