The Green Fuel bankrolled soccer side, Rating FC, is one foot in the more competitive Eastern Region Division 1 for 2019 after a comprehensive walloping of the whipping boys, King Power, 8-0 last Sunday which resulted in the club amassing 68 points, a figure which the nearest team, Clearwater, will not reach even if it was to win all its remaining games and  FC loses its last two games.

Club president, Mr Alex Dunuza, was confident his team would make it to the second tier next year as they had remained united from day one. He believes the unbeaten run would not be disturbed in the remaining two games.

“The boys have been very focused from the first game up until now. I thank the coaches for maintaining discipline on and off the pitch. Therefore, we expect good times to roll at the club as we attempt to play against the best,’’ he said.

While the average age of players is 21, the assistant coach, Mr Forward Gwari, believes the youngsters are a determined lot. He thinks they will go far if they remain grounded and do not allow publicity to get into their heads.

“We will try to continue improving. Although we have won the ZIFA Manicaland 2B league, there could be some playoffs and there is ample need to remain with our eyes on the ball,’’ he said.

Rating FC boasts of a mean defence and a mobile midfied while the attackers are deadly finishes if the 62 goals they have scored are anything to go by.

Back in the early 1990’s, ARDA Middle Sabi had a formidable soccer outfit in the then Northern Region. It was nicknamed “Kunouyei’’ because it was almost invincible both at home and away.

It remains to be seen whether Rating FC would reach the dizzy heights that Kunouyei reached in the golden years of football.
