LOCAL Barura musician, Brian Samaita, has opened up on his future in the music industry amid rumours that he is on the verge of quitting music for the pulpit.

Samaita, fondly known as Mwana Mutare, has been frequenting Prophet Shepherd Bushiri’s Enlightened Christian Gathering Church in South Africa.

In December last year, after returning from a church service where Prophet Bushiri reportedly anointed him, Samaita released a gospel album.

According to those who are close to the artiste, this was the beginning of a new journey for him.

Others have even been calling the soft-spoken musician a ‘prophet’.

Samaita has six albums under his belt — “Nemiwo Munazvo”, “Murodzi Wepfungwa”, “Tsono”, “Kumaziva Ndadzoka”, “Rinoonekwa Nemavanga” and “Ndafunga Dembo”.

Off the “Ndafunga Dembo”, “Hombarume” was voted ninth on National FM’s Top 50 (2019).

Considering all that success, could Samaita be quitting his career in music?

“It is not a secret that I am passionate about music. Since the days of Tongai Moyo, who was a very close buddy of mine and my confidante, I have always loved teaching and preaching through music. I have always included a gospel song on every album and I have plenty of gospel songs that are yet to be released.

“However, ever since Prophet Bushiri anointed me, the game has changed. I have since receiving the gift of prophecy.

“This is also helping me as I seek protection for my family and business. While I can prophesy, I will not set up a church.”

Samaita went on to reveal that a new album will be released later this year. He said his fans can expect some videos from the forthcoming album.

“Unlike in my previous productions, I might release gospel songs only as I seek to preach through music and inspire others to turn their lives to God and accept him as their Lord and Saviour,” he said.
