POLICE in Manicaland have intensified the anti-smuggling blitz and warned those involved in such activities that the long arm of the law will catch up with them.

This follows the recent interception and confiscation of two trucks which were carrying 418 bales of second-hand clothes by law enforcement agents in Chipinge.

Provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luxson Chananda confirmed the incident, saying the contraband was smuggled from Mozambique through an illegal crossing point in Southdown, Chipinge.

Insp Chananda said after receiving a tip-off, the police reacted swiftly and intercepted the two trucks near Tanganda.

The drivers bolted from the scene, added Insp Chananda, and they are still at large.

Insp Chananda said investigations are underway to bring the culprits to book.
