MANICALAND representatives in the Copa Coca Cola Under-15 soccer tournament, Nyamauru High School, kept their hopes of clinching the 2019 tournament alive when they pulled through to the final of the prestigious competition.
Nyamauru edged Mwenezi 2-0 in the semi-finals of the RTGS $10 000 competition in a match played at Jameson High School yesterday.
The Dangamvura based side will now meet Mpopoma High School from Bulawayo today (Saturday) in what is expected to be a highly explosive encounter.
Nyamauru will defend their title in a repeat of last year’s final. Last year, the two sides clashed in Zvishavane and Nyamauru dismissed Mpopoma 2-1.
Nyamauru captain Lucia Chisvo is convinced that her charges would go all the way to win the prestigious cup.
“I am very happy that we are now in the finals. It was our target to reach the finals. I know it is not going to be easy but we will put our all in the game and come out victorious. We want to make Manicaland proud by bringing back the trophy.
“We did not start the tournament so well but we encouraged each other to up our game and it worked. To be in the finals is really a miracle from God,” said Chisvo.
Meanwhile other Manicaland representatives, Gotora and Chapwanya were knocked out in the group stages and quarter finals respectively.
