THE Zimpapers programme to mentor aspiring writers in Manicaland has started, with an induction workshop for learners from Rock of Ages Academy in Mutare today.
This is part of the leading integrated media group’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, that is meant to have blossoming writers in schools explore and sharpen their talent.
The Manica Post Editor, Mrs Wendy Nyakurerwa-Matinde, who is part of the team spearheading the initiative, facilitated and presented at the workshop together with Diamond FM News Bureau Chief Ms Mercy Ngwebvu.
Mrs Nyakurerwa-Matinde said it is important for students to have their writing and speaking talents nurtured at an early stage.
“This is an exciting opportunity knocking on learners’ doors. As the Editor of The Manica Post, I have committed myself to mentor aspiring writers by having their articles published in our newspaper as part of the Zimpapers Corporate Social Responsibility,” she said.
The patron of Rock of Ages Academy’s Parakletos Club, Mr Fungai Nhaitai, said they are excited about the mentorship programme.
He said: “We are embracing this initiative and feel honoured to be part of it. We hope that this marks the beginning of a long and rewarding experience.”
