New year themes revealed

The uncovering of the New Year themes for churches and ministries took place on the 1st of January 2020 in most churches around coupled with different revelations.

These churches around had their ceremonial gatherings named crossover night, which simply denotes crossing over into the new year and season.

The unveiling of the new year themes had some variations whereby some congregations had to wait for their leader not in Zimbabwe but abroad to declare the new year theme.

However, some received a harmonised theme from the local leader or bishop, and some churches had liberty as a particular assembly to declare the new year theme, that will work as a spiritual signpost of the church’s faith journey.

My investigations proved that most ministers took their time to pray for the establishment of new year themes.

This has proved beyond reasonable doubt that every theme declared is not just a title or topic.

Rather it’s a prophetic word to a particular church.

This brings back those questions I highlighted in the previous edition, that who is to be blamed when the theme is not fulfilled for that particular individual.

Some ministers highlighted it’s not just the declaration of theme that causes its unfolding.

The congregation must submit to God and abide to biblical principles for the fulfilment.

However, other individuals blame the ministers that they are failing the congregation in their teaching that has full of individualism benefiting the minister at their expense, and some noted that they believe that some themes are unrealistic, and the congregation fall prey to unfulfilled new year theme blamed of not abiding to the principles more so about giving.

The New Year’s personal resolutions, and values are not only physical and external.

They also can be psychological. Many New Year’s resolutions reveal that people want to better themselves by improving spiritually and psychologically.

For example, look at your own resolutions over the years.

Haven’t they included such vows and declarations, for the Bible says, according to Job 22:28 KJV: “Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways”.

These are some sentiments that can be implored, to be more patient with your children, improve your self-esteem, be more emotionally open with your spouse?

Such resolutions express the moral ambition of a person wanting to improve his self and life.

What then is the spiritual and  philosophical meaning of New Year’s resolutions? Every resolution you make on this day implies that you can’t control of yourself, that you are not a victim fated by circumstance, but controlled by God, owned by the spirit, but that you are an individual who can make choices to change your life.

Christians ride on the phenomenon of a new year guided by a minister of a particular church or denomination.

The five-fold ministry gifting being the custodian of a ministry or church for the edification of the body of Christ, according to the will of God, have unveiled themes for the year 2020.
