WOMEN have a positive role to play and can make a huge impact in sport by being actively involved as players, coaches or administrators.

This was said by Zimbabwe Volleyball Association Manicaland provincial chairperson Hector Kabhunu after women came out tops during a national volleyball training course held at Zamba Primary School in Sakubva, Mutare recently.

14 women took part in the training course against 11 male counterparts.

Kabhunu said the course was the first since contact sport was allowed to resume following the suspension of all sporting activities to curb the spread of Covid-19.

“The Zimbabwe Volleyball Association held a two-day training course at the Sports and Recreation Commission offices where 25 people – 14 women and 11 men – took part. Participants were drawn from the province’s Chipinge, Chimanimani, Nyanga, Mutasa and Mutare districts. We were impressed with how women fared during the course and it showed that they can have positive impact and great influence in the game,” said Bhunu.

He added that the future of the sport is bright.

Bhunu urged more women to be actively involved in sport, adding that they can go far.
