ZIMBABWE is poised for prosperity under President Mnangagwa’s able leadership in the Second Republic and the church will continue praying for the fulfilment of Vision 2030, a local religious leader has said.

Vapostori for Economic Development (Vapostori4ED) national chairperson, Madzibaba Moses Lloyd Gwasarira said the church has an important role to pray for the country and its leadership in pursuit of national aspirations as Zimbabwe moves towards achieving am empowered and prosperous upper-middle income society by the year 2030.

Vapostori4ED is an economic lobby group aiming to bring apostolic and Zion churches across the country together for active participation and involvement in the national economic development programmes.

Speaking during a church service at Checheche Growth Point last week on Saturday, Madzibaba Moses said Vapostori4ED are throwing their weight behind Government programmes.

“The church is fully behind Government and it is our duty to pray for the country and its leadership. Government is there to serve the people and as the churches command huge followings, it is important that we actively participate in development programmes.

“This is a sign of patriotism and we will play our part in supporting the fulfilment of Vision 2030. Through prayers, we can succeed in all we do as a country and Zimbabwe is moving forward under President Mnangagwa,” he said.

Speaking at the same event, ZANU PF Central Committee member for Chipinge, Dr Win Mlambo said they will lobby Government to provide land for local religious sects to build their churches.

Said Dr Mlambo: “In the Second Republic, no person and no place will be left behind as we move towards Vision 2030. As such, to ensure inclusive development, land should also be allocated to apostolic sects to build their churches or shrines that have ablution facilities such as toilets and tapped water, among others.”

Chipinge South legislator, Cde Enock Porusingazi commended the Johane Masowe eChishanu Church for supporting and participating in Government programmes.

“The church’s support of Government programmes is commendable. As your Member of Parliament, I will ensure that you also benefit from the Presidential Inputs programmes. The country needs your prayers good and bad times for it to continue prospering,” said Cde Porusingazi.
