MUTARE Sports Club was turned into a hive of activity as hundreds of people from all walks of life thronged the sport facility for the Socco Golden Stars first anniversary last Saturday.
Socco Golden Stars has taken health and wellness among adults to a higher level and is one of the most organised social soccer teams in Mutare based in the eastern border city.
Harare social soccer outfit Americans faced Socco Golden Stars while flamboyant Harare side Panjap and Igwe Stars locked horns in the first round. After proceeding to the semi-final, Panjap won against Socco on penalties, while Americans won against Igwe 1- 0.
Americans won 1-0 against Panjap in the final encounter to lift the Socco Golden Stars first anniversary cup.
Socco Golden Stars financier Ruramai Nyakonga was happy with the level of competition and attendance.
“As Socco Golden Stars we are really thankful to all those who took time to attend our first anniversary tournament. It was a resounding success and we want to thank everyone who made that possible. The spirit of fair play was just amazing,” said Nyakonga.
