TITLE aspirants Tenax moved to within two points of ZIFA Eastern Region Division One League log leaders FC Wangu Mazodze when they overcame crosstown rivals Mutare City Rovers 1-0 in a local derby at Mutare Showgrounds on Saturday.

 

Barely had the two teams settled before Albert Matewu struck in the first minute to settle the contest pitting two former Premiership sides.

 

The victory saw Chauya Chikara leapfrog their opponents into second position with 15 points from 10 games.
GushaBhora drop into third position.

 

The two teams, alongside Masvingo-based FC Wangu Mazodze, are among the early pacesetters vying for a ticket into the elite league next season.

 

Meanwhile, it was also a good day in office for Buffaloes who beat visiting Surrey 2-0 at the same venue the following day. The army side remain in fourth place, four points off the pace.

 

Elsewhere, Manica Diamonds Juniors managed to hold newsboys Midway to a 0-0 stalemate at Vengere Stadium on Sunday, a result that saw them drop into 15th place following results in other matches..
