FOR the second successive match, Manica Diamonds fired blanks after they were held to a goalless draw by visiting Black Rhinos at Sakubva Stadium this afternoon to leave their title aspirations in tatters.

Although their coach Johanisi Nhumwa insists that they are still in with a fighting chance for the championship, they are now six points off the pace of early pacesetters Chicken Inn.

After holding Harare City to an identical result last weekend, the diamond miners have now managed only one victory in their last five games.

They now sit on fifth position after amassing 25 points from 15 matches.

Nhumwa described the point they picked as a positive result that adds to their tally.

Said Nhumwa: “We are still challenging. The point we picked is not bad; it will keep us pushing as we seek to continue improving in the next games. We are still involved and will keep fighting as we move on.”

He bemoaned the delaying tactics employed by Black Rhinos, saying it frustrated their game plan and play.

“This was a fair result, but they only came here with the aim to delay for 90 minutes. We ended up playing for about only 60 minutes as they wasted time through their tactics. Anyway, that is part of the game,” said Nhumwa.
