ZANU PF structures in Manicaland have added their voice to the growing calls for President Mnangagwa to continue as the leader of the country until 2030 in order to see through the developmental projects he started.
Manicaland today (Saturday) became the latest province to endorse President Mnangagwa’s leadership after Masvingo, Bulawayo, Mashonaland East, Mashonaland West, Midlands, Matebeleland South, and Matebeleland North made their desire public for the President to remain in office.
Addressing delegates during a Zanu PF Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) meeting held in Mutare, the ruling party’s Manicaland provincial chairperson, Cde Tawanda Mukodza said: “We are happy that National Political Commissar (Cde Munyaradzi Machacha) you are here. We wish to ask you to take our message (Manicaland) to His Excellency, President Emmerson Mnangagwa that he should lead the party and the country until 2030. It is our conviction that the President should carry on with the numerous developmental projects he has been spearheading across the country. The President should be given more time to accomplish this important national mission.”
Also addressing the delegates, Cde Machacha emphasised the importance of having authentic grassroots structures in the party.
Zanu PF is currently seized with the restructuring of party cells and villages, with focus on serving the people, entrenching democracy and fortifying support base at lower levels in its eight administrative districts in Manicaland.
The exercise is being done under strict supervision of the district coordinating committees, provincial, Central Committee and Politburo leadership to ensure transparency, equity, fairness and credibility.
“When we undertake our restructuring exercises, let us ensure that we register genuine party members and should also take heed of the President’s word that there is room for everyone in Zanu PF. We must recruit as many people into the party as possible,” said Cde Machacha, sternly warning party members against social media bullying and harassment.
“Let us shun hate language. We no longer want social media platforms that are created to spread hate speech and bully others. No! No! The social media should be used to engage in and discuss the progress that is being made by the party to foster community development. Let us do away with such indiscipline. The party should remain prepared for an election anytime. We should always be in a state of election preparedness.
“This is the word brought to you as party cadres. Take note that the President does not want party leadership that is aloof, and therefore the party should have strong grassroots structures from the cell going up. The party starts from the cells, which is why this exercise should strengthen the party from the grassroots,” said Cde Machacha.
