AN unidentified man was found dead on Monday along Chipangayi River and his body was in an advanced stage of decomposition.
Chipinge Rural District Council’s Ward Five councillor, Councillor Herbert Machuwaire, confirmed the incident, saying he is yet to receive a report of a missing person in his ward.
“The man could have died some days ago as it was difficult to identify the body.
“A villager who was crossing the river to Middle Sabi Estates saw the decomposed body and notified other villagers who reported the matter to the police. The man was wearing a blue work-suit and safety shoes,” he said.
Chipinge District police community relations officer, Assistant Inspector Jowert Kamera, said investigations are underway.
“The body of an in identified man was found in a state of decomposition along Chipangayi River. The body was ferried to Chipinge District Hospital mortuary for post-mortem,” said Assistant Inspector Kamera.
