THE Ministry of Local Government and Public Works through the Local Government Board has approved the dismissal of Chipinge Town Council secretary, Mrs Susan Dube.

Mrs Dube was dismissed by the local authority early this year after she was found guilty of stealing council water pipes to illegally connect water at her farm.

In a letter seen by this publication written by Local Government Board chairperson, Mr Steven Chakaipa dated September 10, the board approved Mrs Dube’s dismissal.

“The Local Government Board met on September 10, 2022 and deliberated on the application to discharge the town secretary, Mrs Susan Dube. She admitted that she installed pipes at her farm without a council resolution.

“Accordingly, the Board through Resolution Number LGBO15/2022 approves the dismissal of Mrs Susan Dube,” reads part of the letter.

Mrs Dube was arrested in February by Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) on corruption allegations.

She illegally took PVC pipes from the council and connected them at her Kenilworth Farm which is situated about eight kilometres from Chipinge town.

The pipes which were valued at US$639 were recovered.

An independent tribunal was set and found Mrs Dube guilty. It recommended her dismissal.
