INVESTING in young athletes fosters a culture of excellence, discipline, and teamwork, Deputy Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Honourable Angeline Gata has said.
Honourable Gata, who is also the Member of House of Assembly for Mutema-Musikavanhu constituency in Chipinge district said this during constituency level under-10 Child Sport athletics competitions held at Kondo Primary School yesterday afternoon.
“The Child Sport Programme aims to position sports as a vital tool for holistic child development from an early age. By investing in young athletes, the program seeks to foster a culture of excellence, discipline, and teamwork. It also helps fight drug and substance abuse within the country,” she said.
Hon Gata also stressed the importance of nurturing young talent.
“By providing a platform for our children to showcase their athletic abilities, we are not only promoting physical health but also building confidence, character, and a strong sense of community,” she said.
The event, held under the banner “Empowering Future Athletes, Building Strong Foundations,” brought together infants as young as 4 years old from over 37 public schools.
