NEW: Chimanimani’s Bridal Veil gets facelift The rehabilitated Bridal Veil Falls Campsite in Chimanimani

THE Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (Zimparks) has rehabilitated facilities at the Bridal Veil Falls Campsite in Chimanimani, giving it a new look following damages by Cyclone Idai.

The parks authority also commissioned the local staff house to improve employees accommodation.

Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Advocate Misheck Mugadza said Chimanimani is key tourism area and Government is working round the clock to retain it’s status.

“The staff house and Bridal Veil campsite are critical infrastructure developments supporting our conservation efforts and promoting eco-toursim in the region.The Chimanimani Transfrontier Area is known for its breathtaking natural beauty, with rugged mountains, waterfalls and forests. The Bridal Veil Falls, located near the campsite, is a popular spot for picnics and hiking.

“The Park is one of our tourism enablers in Manicaland, and we pay homage to visitors coming for tourism activities at Chimanimani National Park. I am advised that in 2024, over 3 500 clients visited this park predominantly for hiking activities, hence showcasing our diverse provincial and district tourism offerings as well as growing our provincial gross domestic product,” said Minister Mugadza.

Director Parks and Wildlife in the Ministry of Environment Climate and Wildlife, Mr Tanyaradzwa Mundonga said the upgrading of the campsite will rejuvenate activities at the national park.

“This facility is poised to enhance our tourism offerings, attracting more visitors to Chimanimani National Park. Increased tourist arrivals will not only generate revenue for the local economy, but also foster sustainable development. This campsite will not only showcase the breathtaking beauty of Zimbabwe’s natural landscapes, but also provide a unique opportunity for visitors to experience our rich natural and cultural heritage. We envision this campsite as a hub for eco-toursim, promoting sustainable practices and supporting local economic development,” he said.

The event was also attended by National Parks Director General Professor Edison Gandiwa, Chief Saurombe and Government officials.
