COMMUNITIES in Buhera District have embraced the ongoing expanded Covid-19 vaccination programme which was rolled out by the Ministry of Health and Child Care across Manicaland Province at the beginning of last week.

This is the first round of the blitz that will run until April 3 as the country steps up efforts to combat the disease and reduce the severity of its symptoms.

Buhera Residents Network Trust coordinator, Mr Leonard Mabasa hailed the exercise and called on the locals to go out in their numbers to receive the jabs.

“We must take advantage that the exercise has been spread throughout the province to create accessibility and convenience for inoculation. Getting jabbed is for our own good and as Buhera we should play our role and contribute towards achieving the national herd immunity,” he said.

With 12-year-olds now eligible for inoculation, Mr Mabasa urged parents and guardians in the district to encourage their children to get the doses.

Government has reiterated that the country has enough stocks of Covid-19 vaccines for the planned national blitz.
