GOVERNMENT in partnership with development partners is scaling up efforts to ensure that Tongogara Refugee Camp (TRC) in Chipinge District provides quality and sufficient healthcare services to the refugee community at the camp.

TRC administrator Mr Johanne Mhlanga said refugees can now access primary healthcare services at the camp’s clinic and hailed Government as well as development partners for their continued support.

Said Mr Mhlanga: “In terms of our healthcare services at the camp, so far so good. We provide primary healthcare services and those that require secondary management, we refer them to Chipinge District Hospital. Others that require further management are handled through the Government referral system up to Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital in Mutare and Harare Hospital.”

He added that the clinic requires additional healthcare workers as the refugee population keeps growing.

“As the refugee population keeps growing, we need to ensure that the camp clinic has adequate nursing staff to enable us to provide quality and timeous service,” said Mr Mhlanga.

As the country moves towards Vision 2030, Government is ensuring that no one and no place is left behind in accessing quality and affordable healthcare service.
