MANICA Diamonds roving left-back Farai Banda has left Mutare this morning to join the national team in camp ahead of the Warriors’ crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Zimbabwe will play Kenya away at Mandela National Stadium in Uganda on Friday before they host Cameroon at the same venue four days later.
Like Zimbabwe, Kenya do not have a stadium certified by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to host international matches and they have settled for playing at home in Uganda.
The game against Kenya will mark new coach Michael Nees’ first assignment for the Warriors.
Most of the foreign-based players and the local contingent left their bases yesterday and are expected to arrive in Kampala, Uganda today.
Banda comes in as a replacement for Tino Kadewere, who has been ruled out after picking up an injury over the weekend.
The Warriors will have their first training session today (Monday) at 3pm.
