NETBALL enthusiasts will be in for a treat when the Manicaland Netball Division One League second bubble of the season gets underway at different venues across the province tomorrow (Saturday).

Matches start at 8am.

In a move that is aimed at cutting costs, the Manicaland Division One Netball League is being played in a bubble format, just as the National League is being done.

In this case, five teams are placed in a bubble and they play each other at a given venue.

Bubble Two D will be hosted by Destiny Queens at Destiny Grounds in Mutare where the hosts, log leaders, Santa Queens, Ratings and Nyamaropa Queens will be crossing swords of supremacy, while Bubble Two C will be played at Nyanyadzi Training Centre in Nyanyadzi under Chimanimani District where Nyanyadzi Queens are the hosts.

Clubs to do battle in Bubble Two C include Eastern Queens, Gatsi Queens, Gwebu Royal Queens, Rusitu Queens and the hosts, Nyanyadzi Queens.

For Bubble Two A that is set for Liverpool Courts in Redwing Mine area, Kings Daughter will be the hosts and visiting clubs will include Ngangu Queens, Bumba Queens, Checheche United and Mweyamutsvene High.

In Bubble Two B, Buffaloes Queens will be hosting matches at Three Brigade where Flying Queens, Vhiriri Stars, Nyanga Queens and Expandable Angels will be competing.

Powered by the mercurial instincts of goalkeeper, Primrose Chawira, goal defence, Olinda Choto, wing attack, Concillia Masikati, captain, Patience Mupfumwa, wing attack, Priscilla Kashonvo, goal attack, Linda Kashongo, goal shooter, FelistusMavhuna, all under the tutelage of coach, Peter Changadeya, log leaders, Santa Queens are expecting nothing less than cementing their dominance in the exciting league.
Santa Queens captain Mupfumwa said: “We have tough matches against Destiny Queens from Mutare and Ratings from Chipinge, but we are looking forward to conquer Manicaland because we have a well-oiled team.

“This bubble is more than important to us as a team because it will shape our position for the 2023 Division One Netball League for Manicaland Region.”

The Manicaland Netball Division One League made a sensational return to action after being on a hiatus since the Covid-19 lockdown era, with the first bubble of its 2023 season matches having been played in March.

The Lawrence Ziko-led regional league is affiliated to Zimbabwe Netball Association.

With full representation in all parts of Manicaland, in Mutasa District there is Santa Queens, King’s Daughter, Gatsi Queens and Metallon Queens, while Mutare District has Buffaloes, Mighty Queens and Destiny Queens.

Checheche United, Eastern Queens, Ratings and Expandable Angels make up the list from Chipinge District.

In Buhera District, there is Gwebu Royal Queens, Flying Queens and Vhiriri Stars, while Chimanimani District has Ngangu Queens, Rusitu Queens, Nyanyadzi Queens and Bumba Queens.

Nyanga District has the duo of Nyamaropa Six and Nyanga Stars.
