VULNERABLE girls and young women in Manicaland are set to benefit from the initiative by National Aids Council of Zimbabwe (NAC) which seeks to raise awareness on HIV, Aids and sexual reproductive health following the launch of the Sister to Sister programme in the province.

The project aims to reduce HIV prevalence among the vulnerable group of the ages between 15 and 24.

NAC communications officer Mrs Tadiwa Nyatanga-Pfupa said the initiative will equip girls and young women with knowledge about their sexual and reproductive rights.

As a key part of the population at more risk of contracting HIV, the targeted group must be independent and able to make informed decisions and the right choices, Mrs Nyatanga-Pfupa added.

The Sister to Sister programme also looks at what contributes to new HIV infections while also grouping the girls and young women into clubs where they are taught on self-awareness, sexual reproductive health matters, financial acumen and family issues.
