MUTASA District has received two trucks from the Ministry of Health and Child Care to increase healthcare workers’ mobility as efforts to expedite the malaria residual spraying programme in the area intensify.

Mutasa is a malaria-prone area and the district’s medical officer Dr Cephas Fonte hailed Government for its commitment and sustained efforts in promoting the prevention of the disease.

“Malaria is a prevalent disease here and it is imperative that we come up with sustainable strategies towards its prevention, control and elimination. We are implementing intervention programmes and Government has continued playing an active role in that regard.

“We have since received another truck from Government, to make them two, to ensure efficiency in effectively carrying out malaria prevention and control programmes across the entire district,” said Dr Fonte.

He said they have made significant progress in their programmes that aim to reduce the burden of the disease.

Dr Fonte said they will continue raising awareness about malaria around local communities and urged the people to play an active role in fighting the disease by helping to prevent it.
