MUTARE-BORN versatile and talented model, Blessing Mutamba, raised Zimbabwe’s flag again after she was crowned Miss Diamond UK in a tightly-contested pageant held in the United Kingdom recently.

The pageant saw 40 bevy of beauties from Ireland and UK strutting their stuff on the ramp in a contest meant to celebrate cultural diversity.

For Mutamba, who is based in Ireland, this is one of her most memorable feat as she will be representing her adopted country in the Miss Diamond International to be held next year in Las Vegas in the United States of America.

The pageant will see a bevy of beauties from across the world battling it out for the coveted prize.

Said Miss Royal UK on their website: “We celebrate the beauty and diversity of every woman. We are committed to promoting positive body image, therefore we have no height or weight limits. We also welcome married women and mothers. Miss Diamond is preparing to run its 6th pageant. This will see 11 UK winners and four winners from Ireland representing their country at Regency International in Las Vegas in July 2023.”

Mutamba, in an interview, said she was thrilled to have reached the ‘Promised Land’.

“I feel motivated to contest in this pageant because it has something to do with personal values and what I stand for as a woman. This has been my goal to compete successfully and win a title.

“My dream has always been to inspire the girl child and other young people who are looking up to me as a role model. With consistency and hard work, results will always come. I wanted to prove to myself and show other young people out there with determination and focus, one can move mountains,” she said.

She added: “The pageant was held over two days as a lot is involved. Altogether we were 40 models and it was divided into different categories and age groups, I managed to make it and I am over the moon. I am now preparing for the finals to be held in Las Vegas in the United States of America.”

Mutamba who traces her roots from Mutare’s Morningside suburb has several accolades in her cabinet such as the Miss Royal UK beauty pageant first runner title she won in August.

Mutamba had her primary education at Hillcrest Junior School before moving with her parents to settle in Wales.

She obtained her undergraduate degree in Creative Enterprise, before proceeding to study for her Masters Degree in Business Entrepreneurship.

When Mutamba last came to Zimbabwe in 2019, she toured Mutare, Harare and Victoria Falls in an expedition that was aimed at exploring opportunities to work with youths and society at large.
