CHIPINGE District Administrator, Mr Edgars Seenza, will with effect from Friday be the new Mutare DA.

Mr Seenza is replacing Mr Cosmas Chiringa who was elevated to Mashonaland Central Provincial Administrator last year.

He became Chipinge DA in 2013 following a brief stint as a Bikita District Administrator and Chipinge Rural District Council chairman.

His assistant, Mr Freeman Mavhiza will be the acting Chipinge District Administrator.

In a telephone interview on Wednesday afternoon, Mr Seenza confirmed the development and said: “Yes, I can confirm that with effect from Friday, I will be the new DA for Mutare. I cannot shed more details because I am travelling to Bulawayo for a workshop. Please can you contact me during the weekend for a full interview.

“I will be leaving Chipinge on Sunday and on Monday I will be assuming my new duties in Mutare,”said Mr Seenza.

Mr Seenza was hailed for the sterling work he did during his three-year stint as Chipinge DA.

During Mr Seenza’s three years as Chipinge DA, there was a reduction in land disputes. He improved relationships between Local Government and Central Government through continuous engagement.

Mr Seenza came up with drought mitigation strategies which resulted in the drilling of more boreholes especially in the Save Valley.

He was popular with farmers for his stance in advocating for a win -win situation in contract farming.

Under his leadership, Chipinge District always emerged top in contributing to national events in Manicaland through engaging various stakeholders in the district.

Mr Seenza was also popular for his call for the non politicisation of the drought relief programme in line with the President Mugabe’s message that no-one should die of hunger in Zimbabwe.

Chipinge Rural District chief executive officer, Mr Blessing Mamvocha, said Mr Seenza’s contributions in Chipinge would forever be cherished.

“We appreciate the good work done by Mr Seenza during his stint in the district. He was an administrator who had the district at heart, very professional and a man who respected protocol and procedure. His office was always open and accessible irrespective of status. The council benefited a lot through the guidance he gave us,” said Mr Mamvocha.

The District Information Officer for Chipinge, Mr Zaine Dube, said: “It is sad to bid farewell to a very competent DA who had the desire to see Chipinge develop. The district will greatly miss his guidance and we wish him success in Mutare,” said Mr Dube.

Mr Seenza came to Chipinge in 2013 replacing the late Noel Mundeta.
