Murudzwa castigates deceitfulness, greediness in churches

INIMITABLE songwriter and gospel diva Agatha Murudzwa has stepped up preparations for her 10th album launch slated for Mutare which will also coincide with celebrations to mark her 15 years existence in the gospel music industry.

The album titled “The Living Word”, which was released last Friday tackles issues such as deceitfulness and greediness in churches as well as messages of encouragement and faith. On one of the tracks on the album titled “Church politics”, Murudzwa urges Christians to focus on praising and worshipping God and desist from allowing the devil to manipulate them through the love of money and power. “I give thanks and praise to God for taking me this far. The album carries themes that uplifts, teaches and advises listeners on issues that affect our Christian life. I am happy with the response the album has received so far. We will do an album launch in Mutare since this is where it all started. Some songs on the album are also inspired by my life’s experiences as a Christian as well as some Bible verses that always mould me to be God’s loyal servant,” she said.

Other songs on the album are “Vhomora hwayana”, “Munoramba muri Mwari”, “Zvikasashamisa haazi Mwari”, “Hold On”, “Zadzisai Chirevo”, “Chinyarara Moyo Wangu”, “Takazvigashira” and Tsitsi. It was produced by Gibson “Makumbe”. The Harare-based musician who grew up in the sprawling suburb of Dangamvura rose to stardom with hits such as “Semafashamo” and “Press On” which was released in 2012. She has nine albums under her belt which include “Ndimi Mwari”, “Fambai Neni”, “No pain no gain” and “Grace period”. She revealed that she intends to bring the album to her fans in the eastern border city saying they moulded her to be one of the country’s celebrated gospel musicians in the country. The talented singer who boasts of 15 years in the music industry still has the agility, confidence and booming voice when on stage. She paid tribute to her husband Pastor Gwinyai Ndembera, producer and band members (Faith Sounds Music) as well as her fans for making the album a success.
