THREE Mountaineers franchise cricketers will be part of the top players to participate in the second season of the Zim-Afro T10 Cricket Tournament in Harare.
Donald Tiripano, Tendai Chatara and Tinashe Muchawaya will be looking forward to represent the province in the highly illustrious international tournament from September 21 to 29.
The competition will see Bulawayo Braves Jaguars, Harare Bolts, New York Strikers, Lagos Strikers, Jo’Burg Bangla Tigers, Durban Wolves and Cape Town Samp Army battling for top honours.
The Westside veterans will be playing for different teams.
All-rounder, Donald Tiripano, will be making his debut appearance under Durban Wolves, while pacer, Tendai Chatara, alongside Tinashe Muchawaya will join Jo’Burg Bangla Tigers.
Speaking to Post Sport, bowler, Tinashe Muchawaya said: “I am happy with the opportunity to participate in the Zim Afro T10 Tournament, and to be drafted into the Durban Wolves squad. This is a dream come true for me. Getting into the competition, I want fans to rally behind the team, and enjoy the beautiful game of cricket.”
Muchawaya has been in red hot form following a strong display in the National Premiere League 45 over games that leapfrogged him into the Zimbabwe Emerging squad which toured the United Kingdom early this year.
His counterpart, Donald Tiripano, has been mentoring young cricketers at Westside Cricket Club at Mutare Sports Club in a grassroots programme to nurture and develop young talent.
Chimanimani-born pace bowler, Tendai Chatara, will be out to defend his crown, but under a different franchise.
He said fans should expect to witness the “Chats Show” on display again, producing the heroics of the 2023 Zim-Afro T10 Tournament where he ended up being the third-highest wicket taker following an impressive feat of 12 wickets in 11 innings.
