A CHIKANGA man, Brandon Zimba Marange who went missing two weeks ago was last week on Thursday found hanging from his late parents’ roof in the same suburb.

His body was in an advanced state of decomposition.

Police confirmed the incident, and said investigations to ascertain Marange (28)’s death were in progress.

Acting Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka, said children who were playing outside noticed a lot of flies which were coming out of the room. The area was also engulfed with a strong odour.

The children informed some neighbours who peeped through the window, and saw Marange’s body hanging from the roof trusses.

“We are still investigating the matter. Preliminary investigations, however, reveal that Marange hanged himself from a roof truss for unknown reasons. He was staying at his late parents’ house alone when the incident happened.

“Children who were playing outside his house felt a strong odour, and saw flies which were coming out of the room. They alerted neighbours who peeped through the window, and saw Marange’s body hanging from a roof truss.

“Grace Bema who was among the first people to attend the scene made a report to the police. The body was in an advanced state of decomposition,” he said.

When The Weekender arrived at the scene, neighbours were gathered to witness the shocking event.

Neighbours said they suspected foul play, while describing Marange as a soft spoken college student.

Ms Rufaro Mafune, a neighbour, said they never suspected that Marange was dead inside the house even though they had been looking for him for the past two weeks.

The doors to the house were locked.

“We suspect that he was killed, and the suicide was stage-managed because there were bloodstains on his shirt,” she said.

Meanwhile, a Sakubva man was on Monday arrested for nearly killing his mother after assaulting her with a pot.

Goshen Sithole (39) is set to appear in court facing attempted murder charges after assaulting his mother, Miriam Sithole with a pot several times all over the body.

Sithole who sustained serious injuries is battling for life at Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital.
