GORGEOUS Delight Chiwanga out-modelled 11 other models to be crowned this year’s Miss Winter, at an exhilarating and competitive beauty pageant held last Saturday at Courtauld Theatre.
Chiwanga received 1 000 trees and $500 from Nyaradzo Group of Companies. Grace Mwaziremudza and Cinderella Mukambachaza came first and second princesses respectively.
Grace received a Spar hamper worth $180 and a Total Beauty Studio voucher, while Cinderella received a Spar hamper worth $150 as well as a Metro Peech $150 hamper.
The event was co-organised by Mabvazuva Creative Hub in conjunction with Precious Dhliwayo’s Precious Events who pledged to come up with similar pageants in near future in a development set to revive the modelling industry in eastern border city of Mutare.
The event was also spruced up by evergreen performances by local artistes such as Evonzo, Team Savage as well as star of the night, Lionel Caff Matanda, fondly known as Caff.
Caff, who is readying a new album titled ‘‘A boy from Mutare’’ showed scores of people who thronged the spacious venue why he is one of Mutare’s shiniest star musically with a top-drawer performance.
“We are grateful with the support we received. It was a sold out show. This campaign was designed to showcase beauty with brains from the east (Manicaland) across the globe and raising value on the modelling career, wiping negative stereotypes that have been long associated with models’ behaviour,” said Mabvazuva Creative hub manager Tawanda Ndawe.
Versatile artiste, Henry Tsopotsa of Courtauld Theatre and one of the organisers said they had lined up a series of pageants among other arts activities in future in their bid to revive modelling industry in Mutare.
