REIGNING Miss Tourism Tafadzwa Jaricha has joined thousands of Zimbabweans in heeding the national call to help the victims of Cyclone Idai. She donated clothing items.

Jaricha, who was accompanied by children from E-Learning ECD Centre, handed over the donation to the Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs Dr Ellen Gwaradzimba.

Jaricha said she was compelled to support the victims of Cyclone Idai as they had lost everything except the clothes on their back.

“I joined hands with children from E-Learning ECD Centre to put together these clothes for the people in Chimanimani. What I wanted most is for the little children to know that whenever there is a crisis, we must join hands and contribute towards that. They must learn to give at a tender age,” she said.

Jaricha, a lawyer by profession, was crowned Miss Tourism Zimbabwe in September 2018 at a pageant contest held in Bulawayo. Dr Gwaradzimba applauded Jaricha for her efforts to help the victims.

“This is evidence of beauty with brains. It shows that when we have a crisis, people come in to help. She decided to take time off her busy schedule to mobilise clothes for the victims.

This is emotionally touching that kids at this age are taught the values. They are taught what is expected of them as they grow up, that they must know how to give to the society which is in needy. I thank the parents also who gave the little ones clothes to donate,” she said.
