THE Minister of State for Manicaland Dr Ellen Gwaradzimba has challenged the media, law enforcement agents and other stakeholders to take gender based violence seriously.

Speaking during a meeting aimed at strengthening service provision to rape and sexual abuse survivors, Dr Gwaradzimba said it was not time to hold conferences but to confront the scourge head on.

She urged the police to bring perpetrators to book as well as increase mass awareness campaigns.

Dr Gwaradzimba attributed the rise in GBV cases to lack of education, support systems and some traditional beliefs.

Msasa Project advocacy programme officer, Ms Rotina Mafume Musara echoed the same sentiments calling for consorted efforts in addressing GBV.
