INDIVIDUALS and organisations that are making tremendous strides in Manicaland’s business sector were last week on Friday honoured at this year’s Megafest Eastern Region business awards held at a local hotel.

Among the biggest achievers who scooped two awards apiece were Big Rock Logistics, who are specialists in earth moving and equipment hire, construction and civil works, as well as supply and delivery of aggregates.

The organisation won the company of the year award, while its director, Mr Blessing Mangwiro, scooped the businessman of the year gong.

Zimpapers’ stables, The Manica Post and Diamond FM were honoured in the professional service award of the year category, together with Utande and Zimbabwe Insurance Brokers.

One of the leading tourism facilities situated in the scenic resort town of Nyanga, Troutbeck Inn, won the customer focus award of the year, while its manager, Mr Ray Mavhumashava, won the manager of the year award.

Top hotels, Golden Peacock Villa and Holiday Inn also scooped the service excellence award of the year awards.
Winners interviewed attributed the recognition to hard work and resilience.

Veteran hotelier, Mr Charlton Chimbira and Holiday Inn Mutare’s general manager was named outstanding business personality of the year and said: “It is an honour to be recognised once again for being an outstanding personality. I attribute the honour to my family and colleagues at the hotel for making me a hard worker and result-oriented.”

Big Rock Logistics are literally dominating the market and spreading their tentacles in the industry with each passing year, thanks to a client-oriented approach to business and a vibrant community social responsibility stance.

As ample evidence of their growing clout on the market, the company has covered a number of developmental projects that include the Chimanimani Cyclone Idai recovery project.

Said Mr Mangwiro: “I dedicate this award to The Big Rock staff. They are hardworking and value the ethical way of doing business. The importance they attach to teamwork is awesome. We were founded on the ethics and values that customer satisfaction is key to the lifeline of the organisation. We are committed to ensuring customer satisfaction in all our services.

“Our fleet of trucks, plant and equipment are maintained to perfection in order to meet international standards.

“Our management team is constantly looking to and planning for the future by developing ways to continuously improve service delivery.

“Our mission is to provide the most competent and proficient services to our clients as well as to uphold highest levels of professionalism, integrity, honesty and fairness in our business operations in the communities we operate in.”
