HEALTH personnel and students at Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital have benefited from the donation of 110 medical books the referral centre received from a local organisation.

The consignment, which was handed over by Mutare Rotary Club, is worth US$10 000.

Speaking during the presentation ceremony, Mutare Rotary Club president, Advocate Natsai Nyamwanza, said their aim is to help health practitioners at the institution get easy access to quality, up-to-date medical information conveniently.

“The purpose of this donation is to equip the Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital with the latest information in their profession. It is important for them to have such literature that is current as evidence is evolving and so should be their training,” said Advocate Nyamwanza.

Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital Medical Superintendent, Dr Dorcas Masanga-Mutede expressed gratitude for the donation, saying it will go a long way in keeping them abreast with the latest trends in the profession.

This will help them in improving healthcare service delivery, she added.

Dr Masanga-Mutede urged the health personnel and students to make the most and best use of the books.

“This is a very timely and greatly appreciated donation. As we thrive to be a centre of excellence, this will aid us in producing competent staffers who deliver quality healthcare all the time,” said Dr Masanga-Mutede.

Last year Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital also received 229 books worth US$30 000 from Mutare Rotary Club.
