MANICALAND Province yesterday recorded new 244 Covid-19 recovery cases, a record high for the week.
Yesterday’s number takes the tally of total recoveries to 4 370 in the province.
According to figures released by the Ministry of Health and Child Care, this is a record high for the week running from July 12 to July 19.
Over that period, 40 recoveries were recorded on July 12 while there were none between July 13 and July 15.
50 recovered cases were recorded on July 16 and the weekend had zero (Saturday, July 17) and 18 (Sunday, July 18) before yesterday’s record high of 244.
As of yesterday, the national recovery rate stood at 65 percent.
The increase in recovered cases has been attributed to the ongoing accelerated national vaccination programme as more people in the province are taking up the jabs.
167 323 people had by yesterday taken their first dose in Manicaland, the second most in the country behind Harare.
89 126 have received the second jab, again the second highest behind Harare.
