Manicaland police intensify anti-smuggling blitz

The contraband had been smuggled from Mozambique through an illegal crossing point

POLICE in Manicaland have warned smugglers that the long arm of the law will always catch them and encouraged people against the crime.

 

This follows the recent arrest of a Mutare man who was caught in possession of 42 bales of second-hand clothes near Small Bridge Dam in Mutasa District.

 

Manicaland provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luxson Chananda confirmed the arrest of Carlos Masora (30) of Mutare who was nabbed with the contraband he had smuggled from Mozambique through an undesignated entry point in Sheba.

 

Insp Chananda said since commencement of an anti-smuggling operation by police in the province, they have intercepted 2 800 contrabands consisting of second-hand clothes and shoes.
